A report from Sky News has shown that Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi exploded a bomb that killed himself and some members of his family including his wife and two children.
Later reports from the Syria Civil Defense claimed 13 people were killed.
Further evidence that al-Qurashi may have been appointed successor by Baghdadi may be inferred from the relatively quick succession of Baghdadi.

The four children were subsequently taken into the custody of Tahrir al-Sham.
Apart from Abu Ibrahim al-Qurashi, at least 12 other people were killed in the operation, including women and children from his immediate family.
