The Health Minister said on Saturday that aside from travellers entering Malaysia, close contacts of Covid-19 cases and individuals given supervision orders would also be subject to the seven-day quarantine period provided they have been fully vaccinated.
At a press conference today, health minister Khairy Jamaluddin said those who have received their booster dose will only need to be quarantined for five days.
The reduced quarantine period for travellers will take effect on Monday, 24 January 2022.
Travellers arriving in Malaysia from 40 countries will now have to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine after concerns are increasing about the spread of three Covid-19 variants.
The quarantine period for close contacts will also be reduced to seven days at home for those fully vaccinated.
Mr Khairy added that the existing guidelines are relevant and will be enforced, with the public reminded to comply with the established regulations.
