It generally resides around 62 m below the surface of the ocean, but it has occasionally been found in fresh water also.
It is usually yellow-brown in colour with a covering of dark brown spots.
Their spiracle is located just behind the eye.
It is not known if sharks are able to sleep, but they do seem to have periods of rest.
As the shark matures, these bars begin to break up into the adult coloration.
The fact that they also frequent shallow waters adds to the problem.
